The Right Brows for Your Face Shape
Getting the right brow shape for you includes looking at several factors: your natural brow shape, your prominent facial features, and your face shape. When doing your permanent makeup we'll not only look at the best color for you, but the right length, width and height so these factors help with those decisions.
For example, do you have thinning brows already or really wide or long, thick brows? Do you have a natural curve in them or should an arch be created? If so, how much? Then there’s eye shape, nose shape and jawline to consider. I also look at the face shape itself, which is best summed up by the following shapes and celebs for reference. When you take all the factors together, we can decide what will look best for your unique features to put your beset face forward.
To determine what your face shape is, you could take a selfie straight into the camera and then click edit and using the pencil or marker, do an outline of your face and then save that pic as a new image. What's yours?
TRIANGLE: (Think Scarlett Johannson or Cameron Diaz) According to makeup artist and brow expert ray Gafni, you’ll want a long brow that frames the eyes and fills out this face shapes’ wider forehead. That will make it appear smaller. This could be accomplished by extending the tail a bit, too.
OVAL: (Think Beyonce) Many consider the oval shape to be the ‘ideal face shape’ so most brow shapes will look great on you. A curved or soft-angled brow is always a good choice for this shape.
ROUND: (Think Selena Gomez) This face shape resembles the Peanuts characters and can look very youthful. For brows a soft rounded brow looks great.
SQUARE: (Think Jennifer Aniston) Because the square face could have a tendency to look harsher with a square jawline and hairline, we could add more height in the arch but avoid harsh angles.
HEART: (Think Miley Cyrus) The widest part of your face will be the forehead and cheeks and the slimmest is the chin so shorter brows could help balance this look.
LONG: (Think Sarah Jessica Parker) If the face shape is already long and slender, then a high arch isn’t necessary in the brows since that could make it appear even longer. A flatter brow might work best with a shorter wide arch on it.
