The Best-kept Secret for Anti-aging
by Erin Meier
With another year coming to a close, we start hearing the media talk about our "year in review" and looking forward to New Year's Resolutions and how we'd like to transform. Of course this also means we're another year older and sometimes the reflection we see in the mirror doesn't reflect how we feel on the inside! Coupled with sun damage from our younger years, our skin may not look as youthful as we think it should. That's why the end of 2017 is a great way to look ahead at preventative maintenance for our skin.
We all want that "miracle" to roll back the years on our skin and thanks to technology that is becoming easier and less expensive than years past. Yes, it it possible to make a beauty transformation to look and feel our best. There is a new, minimally-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment designed to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as scars on the face and body. Collagen Induction Therapy or MicroPen diminishes numerous aging woes that so many of us encounter without the expensive hassle of investing in plastic surgery.
How does it work?
The MicroPen is an automated Micro-Needling technology in aesthetic medicine that treats and improves fine lines, acne scars and overall skin appearance. The treatment uses tiny needles or micro-needlesto create tiny, evenly-spaced puncture wounds on the skin. This process stimulates the body’s natural collagen and elastin production by generating a wound healing response; encouraging the body to helps it thicken and ‘plump up’.As it heals, the skin is smoothed and improved!
Am I a Candidate?
The MicroPen is suitable for all skin types, and ideal candidates are those who wish to improve skin laxity, hyper/hypopigmentation, smooth lines and wrinkles, slow the onset of the aging process or improve the appearance of scarring such as acne scars or stretch marks.
Does it hurt?
Before a MicroPen treatment, a topical anesthetic is usually applied to minimize any discomfort. Some areas can be more sensitive than others but the more aggressive the treatment, the better results!
Treatment can take anywhere between 10-60 minutes depending on the area you are having treated.
What is the recovery process like?
After Collagen Induction Therapy treatment, your skin will usually be pink (like a sunburn) and you may experience some mild bleeding and bruising depending on the length of the needle used during your treatment. The downtime with this treatment is very quick and you should have recovered between 24-72 hours. A series of 2-5 treatments is usually recommended to achieve maximum results. Because the results rely on kick-starting your body’s own collagen production, it can take 4-8 weeks before you start to fully see the benefits. However, some patients see the results they want from a single treatment. It is also often advised to use medical grade skincare at home to enhance your results.
You should notice an immediate glow to your skin following your treatment. In a matter of days, you should start to notice visible improvements to your skin that become more apparent as more time goes on. Results will actually continue for up to 6 months as your body continues to produce more collagen.
Treatment costs $300-$500 per treatment. Have questions about how Micropen could be right for you? Let's discuss and ask me about holiday specials if you buy your treatments before the end of the year for use in 2018.
