I get the winter time blues from icy temperatures and wind chill, fewer UV rays, driving home in the dark, less outdoor play time, and an occasional bloody nose due to lack of moisture. However, these conditions are perfect for healing from a permanent make up session on your brows, eyeliner, or lips. The best way to fight winter time woes is to plan and look forward to an appointment that counts as self care, time saving, and makes you feel beautiful.

When I had my brows and eyeliner done I had to avoid the sun like the plague. It would have ruined the pigment and affected the overall look. Had I planned it better, I would have gone on a Thursday before Presidents’ Day weekend and returned on Tuesday looking perfectly healed and camera ready for that meeting that couldn’t be held on the usual Monday morning!

The other thing I had to avoid when I had permanent makeup applied was many of my daily products that I put on my face. Avoiding sunscreen, makeup, and other products is a little harder to do in the warmer weather. Sometimes there is a need for multiple applications per day. During my winter hibernation mode, I wear less makeup (and bra!), and I tend to hunker down for days anticipating a winter storm watch. What better time to heal from your beautiful lip blush session than a random ice storm in mid February. Thanks, hubby for my Valentine’s Gift! Or, if you're celebrating like Miley you can buy your own flowers and permanent makeup!

Who knew moisture could mess up the healing process? You’ll have to avoid excess moisture, sweating, swimming pools, and hot tubs for several days after your permanent makeup appointment. What better time to get this done than the winter when you are wearing your most comfortable sweat suit and fuzzy socks cuddled up on the couch by the fire listening to your favorite podcast with not a drop of moisture in the air.

Better yet, get it done before Spring Break. That ski trip over spring break will be so much easier this year because you won’t have to worry about drawing on your eyeliner, brows, or lipstick. And after an afternoon of sweating while tearing it up on the mountain, you will take off your coat, scarf, and hat, fix your hair, and someone will look at your perfect, not-melted face and say, “How do you look this good? Tell me all your secrets!!!” And you’ll reply, “Schedule your appointment with Erin, today; while winter weather lasts!”
